East Coast Championship 2008
The championship has come, and gone.
Many, perhaps most, of the current Medway Squib fleet have not before been to such an event, and are still bemused by the speed of our shiny-bottomed visitors; we had known that they would be faster than us, but maybe not expected that they would be so very very much faster. And we noticed that all but one of the visitors had sail numbers less than 100 or more than 700.
Perhaps we can take a little comfort from the fact that, in every race, at least one of the Medway boats did better than at least one of the visitors.
Saturday provided strong winds and three races, while Sunday gave very light winds and two races; we were lucky that there was no rain during the racing.
