Report on Website
Since the last NSOA committee meeting I have performed the following tasks, listed in chronological order.
· Added latest committee meeting minutes.
· Altered application form to take into account new cost and changed format to PDF so everyone can read it.
· Produced various copies of address labels and emailed the file to various people for printing etc
· Changed the homepage image for a better action shot
· Added various reports, results and photos throughout the year.
· Converted David West’s “Handicap Awards” article into a format suitable for the site and uploaded it.
· Updated database to take into account new subscription costs for 2009.
· Performed various maintenance tasks on the database.
· Added photos of Nationals 2008 and 40th regatta, courtesy of Fran Blackburn.
· After gallery module failed, liaised with Emworx and worked on restoring of gallery from backup ASAP and added a banner across the top of the home page to inform all people that we were aware of it and it was being looked into.
· Created a video gallery to contain videos of Squibs sailing
· In response to a number of members having difficulty attaching the Squib sticker onto their vehicle, written some instructions on how to do this and added onto website.
Current work
- Currently updating the online fleets map and will be uploaded shortly.
- Editing a video of the 2007 South Coasts to go into the video gallery, and a short clip to go on the homepage, replacing the static image.
- Look into putting the last 3 issues of Randals yearly DVD’s onto the site for viewing by all.
- Online documents area where people can login using their membership number and view things such as notice of AGM etc. Also if we can get Squibble in an electronic format, a section can be made within this for it.
- Purchase further Squib domain names, subject to approval at the meeting.
- Looking into acquiring photos from Nationals 2008 and Inlands 2008 to go onto website.
Work for future
· Once the boats have been sold from the temporary for sale forum, remove the forum, returning to the official for sale page.
- Online membership application and renewal.
- Online application for open events? Creation of my own system for this or the SailRacer system?
- Online database of results for all NSOA organised open events. So results for any event can be searched and viewed.
Response to questions
Jill Fleming- Real time membership lists
Jill, I thought that this was a feature already on the database, but it appears not. I will add this as a feature to the database, then you can email myself or Sally and ask one of us to send it to you.
