4 DAY weeken at  SCYC and only the 505 to watch and play at thier Nationals .First day very
breezy the rest was light and variable. I'm rubbing the backside off OGO POGO and generally
getting her shipshape and checking everything. 3 hours each day . A fellow clubmate The Doc
shares the hose and removes his antifowling whilst being sent to valhalla with some quaint
Celtic music. The crews never appear for this job do they? Well mine did his bit when we came
off the water and this weekend is his first weekend ofF from SCYC for six weeks.

180 miles or 360 miles for a weekends sailing thats what I call keen . We dont  treat
Squib sailing lightly and when theres no wind  there is alwa ...

More Wind in the clubhouse than on the Water
To furl or not Furl........Ogo has a GO By ogo pogo on 6/11/2007 10:29 AM

Its the Jazz Festival at Abersoch this week , its hot, its musical but not alot of wind. Saturdays race and
the last shake out. Unlike last year when pysocological games of luffing each other up the beach was not
played out but the same two players were again testing the tides strength againt the wind. They finished
1st and 2nd inlike lastyear they luffed themselves to nowhere quiet amusing really. Most boats stayed
at thier moorings.

Sunday all out for scrutineering and close inspections of a Blackburn style, low profile rubbing edges
and transoms and very quiet words. I doubt this will occur on the Saturday of the fleets arrival .A slow
tow across the bay and lift out was gtreeted with speed and teamwork. The odd mast was ...

Washing line technology verses luff line technology for Furlers

I've  been distracted by the committee's arguments  for not supporting  "The white Sail Issue"     more of that later.

Another weekend on the Irish Sea using our furler has prompted a temporary postponement until after the Nationals.

If I haven't learned anything else , in not measuring my forestay length has put me back probably several months to
regain last years boatspeed. My boat was taken off the water by fellow members of SCYC for which I  was eternally
grateful unfortunately the cord between forestay and deck was removed . I live and learn. The use of single luff
wire tension to set up the boat has proven problematic despite changing the rake and altering rig ...

To Furl or Not Furl ........Your Mad ! its not worth the hassle....Really?

Well this is year 3 in life of Ogo Pogo and we learn nothing much more  from our fellow squibbers at SCYC. Its time to strike out on
our own and discover for ourselves what makes the Squib Tick . The faint possibility that we may get better sailcloth will force the issue of
using   flatter sails and shallower luff round that will focus attention on tighter rigs maybe? or not! . We dont understand yet the absolute control
of boatspeed so  installing a furler to save jib life and thus cost is a good excuse to embark on re -tuning OGO POGO.

We are newbies so what do we know, we will discover   we hope with  the  aid  of a tuning partner  what  are the secrets  of making  it quick in

 Easter Regatta SCYC 2007

Well we made it, OGO POGO, the two wounded soldiers and the loyal wives arrived in splendid weather.
The body beautiful was honed to perfection but the wife was not convinced, so we sat around for hours
waiting for the wind and when it came oh boy , will the body cope with this. Force 4 and a relatively steep
sea. Gate start SCYC style , pulled everything in eventually , its doesn't point John! look at that luff round
surely its got to be tighter than that. We have to tack , what was that called "a crap tack" and so it went on.

So late on the water missed the Gerrard giving  of money  to Rasco and recieving "Flossy"a l ...

MARCH 31ST  Kidderminster - Knackers Yard

Well this blog has seven more days before it reaches its objective of getting me sailing again at SCYC.
The pills for beta blocking are still chilling me out to the extent I could stay in bed forever. That may
be natural to many but not to me. Drove to Newcastle in the week my legs were heavy and were aching
both to and from Newcastle. My achilles is causing more trouble than the bye pass still I'm not running
a four minute mile when in the squib  but it could be useful to keep up with Rasco when he comes
ashore each day at Easter to buy us all a pint.

Today is coppershield touch up day, tenting the boat and oil heater cook ...

Down to Abersoch  3 hour run through those beautiful mountains passed old haunts of Bala SC ,
Forestry roads vrum vrum not today Darling, the odd Red Kite and millions of little white blobs.
Sorry Gerard, little sheeps. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. Its these bloody pills I'm going soft and sentimental
or is just the last bit.Did some great walks in beautiful weather plus the homage down the beach to
watch some idiot lose his speedboat and trailer stuck in the sand on an incoming tide. The wife dragged
me away from  charitable assistance  4x 4 and speed boats not a good mix at Abersoch where keel
boats on the beach are concerned. It was a slow death and frozen to death had we ...

 Kidderminster  March 22nd

Fiddled with OGO over the weekend put the mast up in a gale with snow thank God
my crew was there to help. Lots of engineering , confined space fitting out and voila
a fitted Furler.Rubbed the keel and hull down and generally bonded with the boat and
each other and the coming seasons campaign. So whats this got to do with Recovery?

Well my fitness  programme appears to be on a plateau it isn't hard any more and the
"pills" have knocked my heart rate down by  15 points. I now need to build my upper
body muscles with a specific personalised programme.  This is called Sailing at SCYC.
